Rich Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
250g butter
1/2 cup milk
180g block dark chocolate
2 cups raw caster sugar
1 1/2 cups self raising flour, sifted
1 cup plain flour, sifted
1/4 cup cocoa powder, sifted
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup cold water
Dark chocolate curls to decorate
Method:
Line your cake box
Place butter, water, milk, chocolate & sugar in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes or until smooth & combined.
Set aside for 20 minutes to cool.
Whisk flours& cocoa into chocolate mixture
Whisk in eggs until smooth & combined
Pour mixture into prepared cake box & pop into a cold oven bake at 150 deg for 1/2 hour or until top is crunchy then cover with baking paper and continue to bake until cooked & tested with a skewer & skewer comes out clean
Cool in cake box before turning out
Chocolate Ganache
Ingredients:
2/3 cup cream
2 x 200g blocks milk chocolate, chopped
Method:
Place chocolate & cream in a microwave safe bowl
Microwave on medium-high (75%) for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring with a metal spoon every 30 seconds or until smooth.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until thickened
Spread over cooled cake & top with chocolate curls
